- The cut-off date for calculating age will be the last date of application, i.e., 28 May 2026.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old as on 28 May 2026.
- The maximum age limit is 30 years for General (UR) and EWS category candidates as on the cut-off date.
- Age relaxation will be provided as per Government rules for eligible categories.

Important Note :
- The maximum age of the candidate (except Sl. No. 05 category) should not exceed 56 years as on 28 May 2026.
- There is no upper age limit for departmental candidates (employees of Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries) who meet the required qualifications.
a) Reservation for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS, PwBD, and ESM categories will be applied as per the latest Government of India rules and guidelines.
b) Candidates applying under reserved categories must submit valid certificates in the prescribed format issued by a competent authority. The certificates should be valid as on the cut-off date, i.e., 28 May 2026.
c) Candidates applying under OBC (NCL) category must belong to the Central List and should not fall under the creamy layer. A valid caste/community certificate is mandatory as on the cut-off date.
d) Applicants seeking reservation must provide caste certificates in the prescribed format issued by the competent authority, clearly mentioning the category and place of residence. Reservation benefits will be given only if the candidate’s caste is listed in the Central Government’s reserved categories.
e) Candidates from SC, ST, OBC (NCL), PwBD, and EWS categories who are selected on their own merit without relaxation will be treated as unreserved (UR) candidates and will not be counted under reserved vacancies.
f) Candidates who qualify using relaxation benefits (such as age or marks) will be considered under their respective reserved categories and not under the unreserved category.
Selection Process :
The selection process will be conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT) only, with no interview. The exam will consist of objective-type questions without negative marking and will include sections on General Awareness, Aptitude, and Technical Knowledge. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their CBT performance and called for document verification. Final selection will be made according to merit, eligibility verification, and reservation rules. Any incorrect information or failure to produce required documents may lead to disqualification, and the merit list will remain valid for one year.
a) The selection will be conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT) only, and there will be no interview stage.
b) Candidates will be called for the CBT based on the information provided by them in the application form. Their eligibility, including age, qualification, and certificates, will be verified later during document verification.
c) The CBT will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions, and there will be no negative marking. The question paper will be available in both English and Hindi.
d) The test will have two sections – Section A and Section B, totaling 100 marks. Section A will cover General Awareness and Aptitude (20 questions), while Section B will focus on Technical Knowledge (80 questions), with each question carrying one mark.
e) The detailed schedule of the CBT will be announced later on the official MCL website.

h) Based on CBT performance, candidates will be shortlisted in a 1:3 ratio for document verification. In case of equal marks, all such candidates will be shortlisted.
i) If there is a tie in marks, it will be resolved based on the candidate’s date of birth (older candidate preferred), followed by alphabetical order of names.
j) Shortlisted candidates will be informed to attend document verification through the official website. They must bring original documents along with photocopies. Candidates working in Government or PSU jobs must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
k) The date and venue for document verification will be published on the official website.
l) Candidates who fail to produce required original documents during verification will be disqualified.
m) After successful verification, a provisional merit list will be released on the official website.
n) Final appointment letters will be issued based on merit position and reservation rules of the Government of India.
o) If any candidate is found ineligible or has provided incorrect information at any stage, their candidature or employment will be cancelled.
p) The validity of the merit list will be one year or as per government rules.
Important Note :
Candidates belonging to General, OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹1000 plus GST (₹180), making a total of ₹1180. The fee must be paid through online modes such as Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking only. SC, ST, PwBD, ESM, female candidates, and employees of Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries are exempted from paying the application fee. The fee is non-refundable, so candidates are advised to check their eligibility before applying.
